Michael Meister Counseling | LPC Therapist in Tulsa, OK

Counseling is a process of self-discovery that can help people learn how to deal more effectively with situations in their lives such as depression, stress, problems with self- esteem, grief, issues related to mental and emotional health, and relational problems.

This process helps people feel more comfortable with themselves, others, and helps develop some of the skills needed to deal with the tensions that come from inside.

My Philosophy

I am a firm believer that we all have the necessary tools and resources within us to solve the issues in our life that is causing us “upset” or “dysfunction”.

Whether it is on our personal life, our work life, or our relationships with others. Therefore, with this approach in mind, I will be able to assist you in getting to the core of the issue that may be causing this “upset or “dysfunction”.

In other words, I come from the place of treating the “whole person” and not just the “symptoms”. I have found that this is the core reason why we, as human beings, get stuck in our lives.  Growth is a process, not an event. Let me help you grow into the authenticity of who you really are.

I use an eclectic approach that tailors to you and your needs within the context of seeking therapy.

Do You Need Counseling?

This is a question that I get asked a lot; “Do I need counseling?”  If you feel that there are things going on in your life that you are having difficulty with then maybe talking to a professional, such as my self, is something that could be very beneficial.

Being able to talk to a licensed professional counselor, who has extensive experience in working with individuals such as yourself can be very beneficial in helping you find some relief and growth.

Having this type of support system and outside perspectives of your situation could be very productive.

Here’s What Some of My Clients are Saying

Paul

“I was having some severe social anxiety and it was becoming more and more difficult for me to want to leave the house or go do things with my friends.

I thought that counseling would be a good idea since whatever it was that I was doing was not working for me. I found Michael Meister and felt very comfortable working with him.

Michael was very compassionate and non-judgmental which set me at ease, as this was my first time ever to a counselor.  After a few sessions with Michael, I began to feel a little bit more of myself, like I used to feel with no anxiety. He really was able to get to the reason why I was having anxiety.

Once I realized that it was much more about the emotional aspect of my anxiety I was able to not let it have a stronghold on me any longer.  Thank you Michael for helping me!”

Rich and Claire

“We had been having some relationship issues for the last 6 months prior to finding Michael.

We had been to marriage therapy before and thought that it was somewhat helpful, but after a few days or weeks went by we found ourselves right back where we started.

Our fights just seemed to be more common than not. We both were at our wits end. We both were very much in love, we just did not know how to communicate with one another in a way that was not arguing.

We saw Michael for a couple months on a weekly basis and after the first couple of weeks I could see a change in our relationship. Michael taught us how to listen to one another and not to take things personally when the other person says how they may feel about something. Boy, It took a lot of practice, but the techniques that we were taught surely did help us.

I never felt judged or that he took sides. The whole process was great and I am so grateful that we found him. I know that my husband is too, as there is not much stress around our relationship anymore!

Thank you Michael for helping us get our marriage back on track!”

Susan

“Being a single mother of two toddlers is very overwhelming.I found myself being really impatient and not finding a good way on how to be more patient with good parenting skills. I went to Michael to have someone to talk to about the stressors of being a single mom and find some balance in parenting my energetic children. Michael taught me that all of the self -judgments that I had about being a poor mother were not true.

I was being hard on myself and buying into those false beliefs that I was a bad mother. It certainly was affecting the way that I was dealing with my children.  During counseling, I worked really hard on letting go of those beliefs and coming to the understanding that I am a great mother and that I want to be more nurturing of that.

Ever since I was able to let go of that irrational belief, I am able to have more patience and be more loving to myself and to my children.  I am so appreciative of what Michael has helped me realize. He is a great counselor and I would recommend him to anyone who wants his help.”
